Teaching Children to Love the Land
Summer Workshops for Kids  2019
How to Enjoy the Land and Leave No Trace
Taught by experts from Roxborough State Park
Location:  Picnic House

Leave No Trace in Every Kid is a goal of the Leave No Trace Center for Outdoor Ethics, and teaching kids how to enjoy the outdoors responsibly is a way to ensure that our beautiful parks, open spaces, and wild lands are protected for future generations.  Join Leave No Trace instructors from Roxborough State Park to learn the Seven Leave No Trace principles and how Big Foot has left no trace for hundreds of years.  We will learn these principles and how to behave in the outdoors through interactive games, activities, and song.  We will hike some of the trails of Cherokee Ranch to learn about plants, animals, and the natural environment and how they can be protected if we practice these principles and develop an ethical approach to enjoying our natural world.  Participants will receive a Leave No Trace principles card, a certificate of completion, and other items to remind them of these principles forever.
Special Instructions: As we will be outside as much as possible, please have your child be prepared with a backpack containing, appropriate clothing for the weather, rain jacket, water bottle, lunch, snacks, sun glasses, sun screen, hat, and hiking shoes or boots.

Cherokee Ranch & Castle Foundation is proud to have the support of Roxborough State Park and the Nora Roberts Foundation for this program.
